A Neighborhood Tradition
In 2001, Matt and Gretchen Jasnich saw something missing in Sarasota — a true raw bar where locals could gather over fresh Gulf oysters and cold beer. They opened Monk's in Gulf Gate, and it quickly became the neighborhood's living room.
With its 1980s nostalgia, intimate bar, expansive patio, and bartenders who shuck your oysters right in front of you, Monk's has been called the “Cheers” of Sarasota. Over two decades later, it's still the place where everyone knows your name.
